| My mods are listed in my profile. BPU stuff with an RPS Sport Clutch and RPS segmented flywheel. I love the feel of the clutch compared to my old clutchmasters 4 puck. As autocross/ road course is expensive and not local to me, I had gotten into drag racing for fun at the local 1/4 track. The competition around here is pretty weak... and I think I can probably win some money this year in the heads up v6 class. (Last year an NA supra ran a high 15 and won a couple hundred). I was set on getting some ET streets to get me off the line, as the combo of the flywheel and 18's on the back are just not the best for low et's. I picked up a set of stock tt rear wheels to use with the et's, but have not yet bought the et's. My concern is with clutch life. Obviously the clutch will be eaten up more quickly the more I race, but with the ET streets, will I kill it extremely quickly? I'll probably only get to the track a few times this next summer, but I could mostly make up for the cost of the wheels/slicks if I win some money. I'd like to stomp some v8's too. I don't, however, feel like having a slipping clutch after 5 passes. I don't have the time/money/experience to just toss another clutch in there and have the flywheel rebuilt. A comment about the RPS clutch "not liking the et streets" has me worried, and I don't want to go drop the $$ on tires if I'm going to have a dead clutch after a few runs. Does anyone have experience running a street style clutch with slicks? How much have you raced and how fast did you wear out your clutch? Sorry for the length, but TIA for reading and offering your thoughts.
